A Message from Brittany Williams, President of the Tennessee Association of Dance

Dear Tennessee Dance Community, I hope this message finds you dancing.

My name is Brittney Williams, and I am honored to serve as the President of the Tennessee Association of Dance (TAD). It is a privilege to step into this role, and I am excited to work alongside our dedicated board members, longtime supporters, and the many educators, artists, choreographers, studio owners, students, and advocates who make Tennessee's dance community so vibrant.

For those I have not yet had the opportunity to meet, I currently serve as the Coordinator of the Rhythm & Spirit Dance Program with Williamson County Parks and Recreation. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the transformative power of dance through education, community engagement, and meaningful connection. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring that passion to TAD.

The Tennessee Association of Dance has a proud history of elevating dance throughout our state through advocacy, education, leadership, and service. As we begin this next chapter together, our goal is to build upon that legacy by reconnecting with the people and organizations that make up Tennessee's diverse dance community.

Over the coming months, our board's focus will be simple: to listen, reconnect, and serve. We want to hear from dance educators, studio owners, collegiate faculty, community programs, independent artists, choreographers, students, and anyone who believes in the value of dance across Tennessee. Before we plan new programs or initiatives, we want to better understand the needs, ideas, and aspirations of the communities we serve.

As we move forward together, we hope to:

  • Strengthen connections across Tennessee's dance community.

  • Foster collaboration and professional support among educators, artists, and organizations.

  • Celebrate the incredible work happening in studios, schools, universities, and community programs throughout our state.

  • Create meaningful opportunities for learning, leadership, and networking.

  • Ensure TAD continues to be a welcoming and valuable resource for current and future generations of dancers and dance professionals.

Whether you have been involved with TAD for many years or are just becoming acquainted with our organization, I hope you will join us in shaping its future. Your experiences, perspectives, and ideas are invaluable, and we look forward to learning from you.

In the coming weeks, we will be sharing opportunities to connect through surveys, conversations, and community gatherings. I encourage you to stay engaged, share your thoughts, and invite others to join the conversation as we continue building a stronger, more connected dance community across Tennessee.

Thank you for the work you do each day to enrich the lives of others through dance. I am excited for the future of the Tennessee Association of Dance and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside each of you as we "Elevate dance in the lives of Tennesseans through advocacy, education, leadership, and collaboration."

With gratitude,

Brittney Williams
President
Tennessee Association of Dance
