Elementary Music & Visual Arts Teachers — We Need Your Help!
With the recent passage of Public Chapter 306, all Tennessee elementary schools are now required to provide students with at least 40 minutes of physical activity daily, in addition to existing PE requirements. When this law was enacted, lawmakers assured the public that it would not compromise music or visual arts instruction.
ArtsEd Tennessee wants to hear directly from you:
Has this new requirement affected the arts programs at your school?
We will use the data from this survey to prepare for a presentation to the state Education Committee for both chambers. Your feedback is vital in helping us and the legislators who represent you understand the real-world impact of this law on arts education across the state.

2025 Arts in Education Resolution
The Tennessee Legislature, working with ArtsEd Tennessee, unanimously passed a joint resolution designating March 2-8, 2025 as “Arts in Education Week” in Tennessee. This resolution confirms that our state’s elected leaders recognize the importance of arts education in the lives of all students, and the importance of the arts in the school curriculum.
You can see a copy of the text of the joint resolution HERE.
The Tennessee General Assembly has worked with ArtsEd Tennessee to support the Arts in Education resolution every year since 2019. We are grateful to Sen. Adam Lowe and Rep. Mark White for filing this important resolution.
All state legislators voted for the resolution, and we urge you to let your legislators know you appreciate their support.
